Hi, my name is Senibiau. I live in Hayward, CA. I've been a caregiver for 26 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver as I was called to be a caregiver and then I prayed and then the Lord inspired me to help the carer before they die and to put them back spiritually. And my calling as a caregiver, I love looking after the carer, especially in their old age. That's my calling as a caregiver and I feel for them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is that don't look at themselves, don't look at them, their weaknesses, don't look at them, who they are. They have the potential. They have the energy. They have the knowledge to be a caregiver and we are blessed to meet people, to meet new environment, to be a caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that makes my life memorable was Ernestine. She is 82 years old. She was in bed for long. She was exhausted of things. She don't want to eat and then I came in. Not me, it was inspired from the Lord. Then I told her, "Somebody is there who help you. Who can and He will help you." And then we started doing things like praying, sharing the word of God. We do other activities like watching movies. And then she started to do things that she don't do. She talk now. She share things and I'm happy that she's managed to do things that she don't do before and I'm looking forward for challenges just like that.
