Hi, my name is Seru. I live in Fairfax, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I feel like I learn something new. It's not really new but something that I can put myself into that service, and I'm helping someone who is old because they are always in need. And I feel like I'm taking care of my own grandparents. I understand and I know that they lived long time ago. I was just young and I don't really understand. So important to take care of your own family, but when I do this job, I feel like I'm around my own family.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, have patience when you do this job, and be honest in your dealing because of most cases, they're not the same. For example, like Alzheimer's disease or maybe someone is blind. You have to deal with your own, alone, but it's going to be up to you. If you're honest enough, then the work will be wonderful and relationships formed with others.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Mr. Torrison. Very humble man, though he was kind of hard sometimes with his family. But my relationship with him was great. I'm always humbled to serve him. He has a humbling spirit. I do enjoy, gives me a peace of mind every day when I think of him. It helps me to understand and to love him more, and that relationship helped me.
