Hi my name is Shelicia. I live in Livermore, CA and I have five years of experience in caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my father got very sick and he needed someone to care for him so I stepped up to the plate and ever since then it's just been like a passion of mine to help and care for the people that need it. I'm really passionate about helping seniors.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
An advice I would give to a new caregiver would be just be patient, make sure you stay patient at all times, don't get frustrated, know that you're helping someone that's sick and that needs you to stay compassionate, make sure you speak up, speak loudly and clear so they can understand you and know how to redirect your client to the right direction.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I would never forget is Betty, she was so loving. It was hard at first to build a relationship and she was unfamiliar with me, she had Alzheimer's but eventually, we grew a strong relationship and got to know each other. She was able to trust me and was able to work together. I'll never forget how loving and kind she was.
