Hi, my name is Shenique and I currently stay in Bellflower, CA. I am a CNA and I have less than a year experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of my grandfather, I was helping my mom with him on a daily basis until he passed in 2003.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver will be patience. You have to have patience, understanding and be compassionate.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
My most lovable memories was when I was with a patient and - her name was Sharon - and she was going through the first stages of Alzheimer's and she said that I looked like one of her daughters and I would go and talk to her, every time I got on the clock I would go and talk to her, make sure that she's okay, make sure that she needed anything, any food, water, or anything like that just to check up on her. I can say it was funny but it was lovable at the same time and I miss her. I miss her dearly. She's at another facility right now, so I don't get to see her every day anymore and that was the one that I used to have fun with.
