Hi, my name is Sheri. I live in Oxnard, CA. I have been a caregiver for 13 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I started working at the age of 15 at my aunt's nursing home with the elderly, and I fell in love with working with the elderly. It's my passion. Then I cared for my dad for four-and-a-half years.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be always have patience, understanding, compassion, love, never rush, sit down and talk to them, don't yell. If you get angry, turn around and breathe.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Larry. He was very understanding, funny, compassionate, big heart. I enjoyed caring for him. He was the love of my life. Great memories right there.
