Hi, my name is Silvia. I live in Oxnard, CA and I've been a CNA for over 20 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my older sister became a CNA first. Then, I decided to try it out, and this is something that I really, really loved doing. So I've been doing this for over 20 years already.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be that they have to like and love working with people, and helping out people not only for the money, but to help people.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Dr. James. I worked for him for about two years. What I liked about him is that we respected each other. He treated me as a family member and not as an employee. We will go out for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and we would do many things together. So, I think he enjoyed being with me and I enjoyed being with him.
