Hello, my name is Success. I live in Houston, TX. I've been a caregiver for four years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I have interest in caring for sick people and I also love caring for people that are in need of help. This is what I do naturally and I enjoy doing it. I am a nursing student and I feel that it's also very good for me to have experience in caring for people directly. And this is what I've been doing for a couple of years and I enjoy doing it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to know your client very well, because not all clients are the same, to know what your client needs and admit your clients at the point of need. This is very important. It is also important for you to connect with your clients.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Miss Josie. Miss Josie is 65 years old. We really enjoyed each other. I stayed with her for five days a week. I would go there in the morning and I would leave in the evening. She passed away, but she became like a mother to me. I was able to help her with her daily needs, with her grocery shopping. She would tell me stories. We would watch movies together and she would always call me her daughter.
