Hi, my name is Tamara. I live in Escondido, CA and I have one year of caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love to help people out. I also helped out my two great-grandparents who were at the age of 80 and older, so I helped them out a lot and I'm also a caregiver currently for children. So, I just like to help people out and I want to expand my experience with the elderly and working with children.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient and outgoing. I would say that someone should put themselves in the other person's shoes to be able to help them the best way possible. And that everyone is different, so patience is key with regards to caregiving.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my great grandpa. He couldn't walk by himself, he could barely eat, and I just loved helping him and putting a smile on his face. I think the most valuable thing is seeing a smile on the other elder's face. That's what means the most all in all.
