Hi, my name is Tanesha and I live in Austin, TX and I've been a caregiver for about six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I grew up in a caregiving atmosphere, basically. My mom's been a CNA for about 30 years. So I always thought it was pretty cool to do things and help people, especially our seniors. It's been a journey and I really like it as far as caregiving, and I did grow up in that atmosphere.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always stay positive and to basically remember that you're taking care of someone's mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather, whichever the case may be. But always stay positive and be compassionate about your work.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget, his name was Jay. And I would say that he was the most musical person that I knew. He knew every song and he was always joyful. And I love music as well, so we shared that music relationship. As far as caregiving when he was also just an out-of-the-box person. I'm going to miss him.
