Hi, my name is Tanya. I live in Concord, CA and I have five years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a care-giver long ago, because I had a sick father, and my daughter too, so that's how I became a care-giver.
What advice would you give to a new caregiver?
My best advice to a new care-giver would be you'd have to have care and compassion in your heart in order to move forward in this line of work. Kind of put yourself in their shoes and view life from their perspective and help the best of your knowledge and the best of your capabilities, as well as having care and compassion in your heart.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Tom. Tom was a pareplegic. I worked with him for about seven years. I loved him so much, because it was like Tom was so full of life as a paraplegic. He tried to do as much as he could, and he still wanted to get out and do stuff. He still wanted to view the world as his. He didn't want the world to treat him differently. He just wanted to be part of the world and part of life so much with his condition, and that put so much perspective into my life and how I go about being a great person, at least trying to be a great person within myself with dealing with the world.
