My name is Tanya Scarbrough. I have 18 years of experience as a caregiver, and I live in Hayworth, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I took care of my grandmother, which I loved dearly, and I also have a passion for helping others and making a difference in people's lives that need my help. Also, my mother was a registered nurse.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to get their CNA license and home health aid license, get their CPR certification, and as much on the job training as possible.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Julia. She became family to me, and I miss her dearly. I took care of her for seven years, and we parted because she got admitted to a nursing home, and she ended up passing away.
