Hi, my name is Tashna. I live in Pasadena, CA and I have three years experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love to help people. I have a passion helping people, and that's something I really enjoy doing. So why not make it my job because I've been doing it voluntarily, and I really enjoy doing this.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be patience is the key. If you don't have patience, it's not going to work for you. You have to have patience because you work with a lot of different kind of people that have different diseases and sicknesses, and you have to have patience be able to take care of them the way they're supposed to be taken care of.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Betty. Oh, she's the best. Going to work, she makes me want to go to work every day. She asks for me. She's excited. I make her day when I see her, and she makes mine. She asks me about my family. We just talk things, and I make her laugh all the time. And she does the same for me. Well, that's something I will never forget. She makes me want to go to work and makes me want to meet other people to know that I am helping someone and making them smile. That's just something good and I just really love the feeling I get from it.
