Hello, my name is Tenicia. I live in Vacaville, CA and I have been a caregiver for eight years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandparents became ill right after I finished medical assisting school so it was easier for me to help them through their chemo and their cancer treatments than everyone else in the family and I have been doing it ever since.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be patient and to approach every situation with that patience and with a new outlook because no two situations are ever the same and even though you've been briefed, always come in prepared and ready because what you've been told might not be what you end up with so it's better to always be prepared.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is John. He had a thousand stories and traveled the world and was one of the most interesting people I have ever met, from artwork to just artifacts, everything he had. He was a very nice man and it was great working with him.
