Hi, my name is Tequa. I live in Stockton, CA. I have no years of experience in caregiving but I have looked after my Amy, my father and multiple other relatives personally with caregiving, such as helping them bathe, taking meals, driving them to places and things like that but I have no experience in a job-related type but I do have personal experience of caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because multiple people in my family were ill and they needed help with the bathing, being able to go to certain places transportation-wise and cooking as well. I'm not a registered caregiver but I do have experience because I've helped multiple family members in need.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always be on time, do things in a timely manner, be patient, be organized, always listen to your patient with whether they need certain things, how they want certain foods done and things like that.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my Amy, she was amazing before she lost her memory, she was always helpful and I loved helping her. She was always positive, I enjoyed going over there, helping her in the kitchen, cleaning and things like that. She was always just a great inspirational woman.
