Hi, my name is Teresa Quintero and I live in Hollister, CA and I have a little over one year of experience doing caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to work with her in helping her sister because her sister has a private company that does caregiving. And I’ve been doing it for over a year and a half and I really enjoy working with the clients that I have been assigned to and I feel that I am able to contribute my services to those that are in need of caregiving. I have a lot patience and a lot empathy towards people that are not able to care for themselves.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have patience, to be flexible, to be open to different types of duties, and also to remember that it’s the clients that we are working with are in need of assistance and we are there to provide the best care as possible.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Andrea because we always cooked together and we always tried meals and they were always heartwarming dinners that we sat at the table together and shared stories about when she was married and her kids. And it was during the Fall that I was taking care of her before she passed away and I really miss the time that I spent with her.
