Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hi, my name is Tara. I live in the city of San Francisco, and I've been a caregiver for six years. The person that inspired me to become a caregiver is my grandmother because she took care of me as a child growing up, and when she got sick, I felt like I had to give it back to her.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget was a 77-year-old woman. I cooked for her, and I've taken care of her. I ran errands for her, and I've done it for six months. What I learned most about taking care of her is to stay supportive even though she was going through a lot of changes in her life
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
What is your proudest moment as a caregiver?
One piece of advice for a new caregiver is to be patient. They go through a lot on a daily basis, so that's what you have to do when you're taking care of people that are going through changes.
The moments that I'm proud of as being a caregiver is putting a smile on my client's face, taking them shopping, and cooking them a good meal.
