Hi, my name is Thelia. I live in Albany, GA and I have been a caregiver for five years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mother was terminally ill with emphysema and I was the only one available to care for her. And I did that until she passed away.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to make sure that you are very respectful and compassionate with all of your clients, and that you serve the most professional care possible, because you are very much needed as a caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a lady by the name of Dawn. She was a retired school teacher and she needed care in the evenings, and I was able to work with her, to assist her in her activities of daily living. And she was very wonderful, very funny, and just a pleasure to work for, and I will never forget her.
