Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
My name is Thu and I live in San Jose, California. I have been a CNA for more than three years and a caregiver for more than a year. I wanted to be a CNA or a caregiver because I want to take care of people, and I wanted to have some experience in the nursing field. That's the reason that I became a caregiver.
What type of clients have you worked with?
I have worked with different kinds of clients. Some of them have dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, light respiratory failure, cancer, and ALS.
What piece of advice can you give to a new caregiver?
When working with an Alzheimer's client, I have learned to reassure them that I'm there to help them. If they have any concerns or feel there is anything that I can do better, they can let me know, and I will follow their direction.
