About
Hello, my name is Tyisha. I am located in Emeryville, CA and I have been a caregiver for 1 year.

How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I am a very caring person. I love to help others. I love people that strive no matter what through our life, no matter if they have a mental disability or a physical disability everyone deserves a chance to be able to be independent, and I love having that access to help others. Overall, I love helping others. I'm a very caring person. I just love to be an assistant.

What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver will be to always be attentive, to be caring, to be accessible to be that person that the other person can always count on. If you cannot be there to let them know that you cannot be there, and if you can, to give your 110% always.

Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget would be my client Lindsay. She was a very insightful person. She was a 33-year-old woman. She had cerebral palsy, so she was wheelchair bound. She's never walked a day in her life. Just her happiness and her joy though she had been through so much, she lost her mother when she was 17 and just everything in her life was so hard, but she conquered everything, and she just gave me so much insightful quotes and visions, and I look at life differently because of her. I miss her a lot, and I hope that she's doing good. She just was the very best soul that I've met. To go through so much tragedy and to still wake up with a smile, to still be able to get up out of bed knowing that three or four people got to help you throughout the day just so you can live an everyday life, I appreciate her so much.
