Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
My name is Vaisioa Pepa and I live in Hayward, California. I took care of my grandparents when I was younger, so when I came to America I liked helping elderly people because that was my job growing up.How would you describe yourself as a caregiver?
I like to help my clients feel free when they stay home. They know that they have somebody around to help them, they know they have somebody that loves them, and to stay with them. I take care of them like their own children would. I have to be honest to them all the time, I don't want to lie or hide anything from them. I have to be honest and tell them the truth all the time to let them know I still love them, and I will take care of them whenever they want me to stay with them. What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
The most important thing, you treat them like your mom or your dad. You have to be close to them and friendly. Let them know you are a kind person. Show them your love, treat them like a person. Let them know they can trust you for everything.
