Hi, my name is Vanessa. I live in Pasadena, CA and I've been working with seniors for 3 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because we work in assisted living, in a senior facility. I actually don't have that much experience as a caregiver. I used to work as head of the department. I was the general manager, and I worked there for two years. I just have a lot of respect for seniors. We own a stripping facility. We take care of 100 to 130 seniors and I really like working with other individuals. I enjoy it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, patience. When you're working with her, you'll be told you need to keep in mind that you need to have a lot of patience. It's all about taking care of them and worry about being there for them. But I think my main advice would be: You need to be 100% generous and have a lot of patience. It could be hard.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I would never forget is this resident at the facility that I used to work on. She was probably in her 80s. She was a sweet lady. She was completely independent, but then she started to get forgetful.
