Hi, my name is Vera. I live in North Miami, FL and I have worked both hospitals and home care for seven years, been a CNA since 2007.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love people particularly the elderly or maybe the sick, they really need care. They need compassion. They need love, comfort, and safety. That's why I am a caregiver and I want to continue my career caring for people. I always have cared for people since my first job.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
I have worked in hospitals dealing with patients who I bathe. I also fed if needed, or assisted. I bathed patients in bed or on a chair. I took care of them for 12 hours giving my love and seeing that they are safe.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The clients I will never forget are Anna and Edith, both different cases, and I did make a mark on their lives. I am so happy with it because I'm positive and always smiling. I always show compassion for them. Taking care of everything they needed be it food, cleaning, or even ironing their clothes. And I always did it with pure happiness. So I did make a great mark on their lives. I know they won't forget me.
