Hi, my name is Veronica. I live in Pinole, CA and I have six plus years of experience as a caregiver and three years of experience as a certified nurse assistant.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my mother was a caregiver and I just love the experience that she had with her clients, taking care of them and just seeing them happy and smile. You know, just having that feel that you're helping someone that needs your help and just caring for them. It's just a really great feeling knowing that you're doing something for someone and you're doing it in a good way and I love helping people. I love caring for them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, always be on time. When you get there, introduce yourself. Make sure that the client is comfortable working with you and always give them respect and dignity and always give them their privacy. The main thing that I would say or my advice that I would give a new caregiver, always go clean, make sure that your scrubs are clean and nice. Not too much perfume or anything like that. You know, not strong. Just alwáys neat, nice, and clean. Show up to your job, show up to a client's house, and always remember.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Ms. Marie. I remember first going to her house and meeting her. She was a sports fanatic and I was not so much into sports.
