Hello, my name is Vivi, and I'm from Adrian, GA. And I've been a caregiver for 25 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver by watching my mom. She cared for her mom and some of her other family members. And, she was also a caregiver of others, the elderly and the disabled. So she inspired me, and I love doing it. I go to the nursing homes, and I cook and feed them. But I love seeing the elderly and the disabled.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have very good patience because everything doesn't just go the way you want it. It takes time.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Ms. Sheila. I had to feed her through her tube, and she was a bed-ridden patient. And we had to have good patience with her. Sometimes, she wouldn't eat except her food and let it go down. But one thing about it is, she loved ice cream. That ice cream, she would take through her mouth.
