Hi, my name is Wazhma and I live in Fremont, CA and I've been a caregiver for more than 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I like this job. I like helping the elderly and sick people. This is my passion and I always want to help people. I am a people person, especially the elderly.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be honest, take care of them like how you would take care of your parents or your grandparents, and be a good human being. And honesty is the best policy. When you take care of somebody, even if that person's family is not around, do your job with dignity.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, he was a very kind to me, very loving, honest, cared for me, loved me. He was always waiting for me and depending on me. He really helped me in life. I worked for him from Monday to Friday, and I had the weekend off. And the whole weekend, he was asking his wife about me, "When is she coming?." So, on Monday when I came in, and would see me, his eyes would start watering and he would tell me, "I'm so happy to see you."
